Two injured in two-vehicle crash east of Cosmos

A crash Tuesday afternoon east of Cosmos injured the occupants in one vehicle but all three individuals in the second vehicle, including a three-year-old child, escaped injury.

CEDAR MILLS – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Meeker County.

Three others escaped injury in the crash that was reported at 5:53 p.m. at the intersection of state Highways 7 and 22 in Cedar Mills Township, east of Cosmos.

According to the State Patrol a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Nathan Anthony Krokenge, 19, of Litchfield, was going east on Highway 7 when it turned left onto Highway 22 in front of a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Bailee Jo Uecker, 24, of Hutchinson, that was going west on Highway 7.

Krokenge and a passenger in the Civic, Sierra Ryan Peterson, 18, of Cosmos, were taken to Hutchinson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Uecker and two passengers, Justice Allan Michael Peterson, 23, of Hutchinson and three-year-old Jaylin Michael Peterson, of Cosmos, were not injured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, roads were dry and all individuals were wearing seat belts, according to the report.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and McLeod County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
