Two injured Thursday in Yellow Medicine County crash

A crash Thursday night at the junction of state Highway 23 and Prairies Edge Lane in Yellow Medicine County sent two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

GRANITE FALLS — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday night near Granite Falls.

The incident was reported at 8:25 p.m. on state Highway 23 and Prairies Edge Lane.

According to the State Patrol, a 2016 Ford Escape driven by Faye Elaine Myers, 83, of Cottonwood, was going west on Prairies Edge Lane when it collided with a 2005 Chevy Malibu driven by Rikki Marie Bohlsen, 48, of Redwood Falls, that was going north on Highway 23.

Bohlsen and a passenger, Ramiro Vasquez-Zamora, 49, of Benson, were taken to the Avera Granite Falls Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol accident report .

Myers and a passenger, Shawn Edward Myers, 50, of Cottonwood, were not injured.


Roads were wet at the time of the incident, all parties were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.

The Granite Falls Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Office and the Upper Sioux Police assisted at the scene.
