Two men hurt in Tuesday crash north of Renville

RENVILLE -- Two men were hurt, including a man who was airlifted for treatment of back and neck injuries, in a two-vehicle crash around 6 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of County Roads 21 and 11 north of Renville.

RENVILLE -- Two men were hurt, including a man who was airlifted for treatment of back and neck injuries, in a two-vehicle crash around 6 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of County Roads 21 and 11 north of Renville.

According to the Renville County Sheriff's office, Roberto Rodriguez was driving a 1993 BMW and failed to stop for a stop sign. His vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a semi tractor driven by Jose Nunez of Willmar. The tractor was eastbound on County Road 11 and after the impact, rolled into the ditch and caught fire. Nunez was able to exit the vehicle and attempted to assist Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for treatment of his injuries. Nunez was transported from the scene by ground ambulance to the Renville County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
