Shawn Plumley, a two-time state champion wrestler from BOLD who was severely injured in a motorcyle accident Aug. 3 near his home in Bird Island, will be honored before the Warriors take on Canby Friday night in a non-conference match.

Plumley won state titles in 2002 and 2003 and also was part of the Class AA state championship team in 2003.

Plumley was injured while returning home after working on a farmplace with his father, Lynn. He hit a culvert while riding in a ditch and flew over the handlebars, landing on his head.

Plumley was in a coma for nearly two months and is currently at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.

He is being allowed to come home for the event Friday and will be announced and escorted into the gym by several of his former teammates.

"I think it's going to be pretty emotional," said BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector wrestling coach Tom Gruhlke. "This will be the first time Shawn has been before the public since the accident."

Moen out at least 3 weeks for LQPV

Amber Moen, a 5-6 senior guard for Lac qui Parle Valley, will miss at least three weeks -- maybe as much as seven -- after suffering an injury Jan. 9 in Ortonville.

Moen, the Eagles' second-leading scorer, broke a bone above the knuckle on her right index finger in the Eagles' 61-49 loss to Ortonville. LQPV coach Ryan Giles said Moen played the remainder of the game after suffering the injury in the middle of the second half.

"She didn't tell us about the injury until the game was over," said Giles. "She's not one to cry about an injury. She's the only senior we have, so well get an idea what we'll be like for next year."

Moen scored in double figures in the Eagles' first nine games of the season and is averaging 11.5 ppg.
