Two-vehicle crash near Atwater injures one

A 20-year-old woman from Watkins was injured Friday morning near Atwater when the vehicle she was driving rear-ended a van on Highway 12 near Atwater.

WILLMAR – A woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning on icy roads near Atwater

The accident was reported at 7:35 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12 at 180th Street Northeast, west of Atwater.

According to the State Patrol, a 2019 Ram Promaster Van, driven by Mitchell David Miller, 58, of Hutchinson, was traveling on Highway 12 and slowed for a vehicle attempting to turn into a driveway and was rear-ended by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Brooke Marie Geislinger, 20, of Watkins.

Geislinger was taken to the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with non-life-threatening injuries. Miller was not injured, according to the accident report.

Roads were covered in snow and ice at the time of the accident. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.


The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
