Up to 3 inches of snow today in Willmar, more tonight

WILLMAR - Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is expected to fall today in Willmar, with another 2 to 4 inches coming tonight.

According to data already reported to the National Weather Service, 5 inches of snow had fallen at Carlos in Douglas County by 7:12 a.m. Four inches were recorded at Hillman and Little Falls in Morrison County. Closer to Willmar, 1.5 inches was measured in Litchfield and St. Cloud.

The winter storm warning by the Weather Service remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday for much of the region. Areas not in the warned area are in an advisory.

The snow will be heavy at times through this evening and will later off late tonight. The heaviest snow accumulations, 6 to 12 inches, are expected from Alexandria to Little Falls to Lake Mille Lacs.
