  HARRISBURG, S.D. -- A high school is on lockdown Wednesday after a student reportedly wounded the school’s principal.

Local media reports say the student left principal Kevin Lein with a flesh wound in the morning incident at Harrisburg High School. The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports Lein is in stable condition and the shooter is in custody, according to Lincoln County State’s Attorney Tom Wollman.

The school remains on lockdown.

Harrisburg is a suburb of Sioux Falls in southeast South Dakota.


Update 11:20 p.m.: Gunshots fired at Sioux Falls high school,  principal injuredGunshots were reported at a high school in South Dakota on Wednesday, according to CNN. Local media also reported that the principal at Harrisburg High School south of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was being treated for a gunshot wound and that the school was placed on lockdown.
