Update: Willmar schools close two hours early today, others are closed or closing early

11 a.m.

WILLMAR -- Willmar public schools and the Willmar Community Christian School will be closing two hours early today because of wintry weather.

Buses will be picking up students two hours before the normal release time to return students home.

The Brooten-Belgrade-Elrosa School District is closing 12:30 p.m.

Colleges in Canby, Granite Falls and Marshall are also closing at noon

Most western Minnesota school canceled classes early this morning.

Although the snow is expected to taper off tonight, winds will pick up Tuesday and combine with below-zero temperatures to create potentially dangerous weather conditions.

Many school districts in west central Minnesota have closed today due to poor weather conditions.
