WILLMAR - Dr. Klint Willert, the Willmar School Board’s choice as superintendent of the school district, has been offered the superintendent position with the Brookings School District in Brookings, S.D.
The Brookings School District issued a news release Friday morning saying that it has selected Willert. The news release said his first official day in the new position will be July 1.

Liz VanDerBill, chairman of the Willmar Public Schools board, said Friday morning that the board had not received any notification of Willert’s decision to accept another position.
“I don’t know what the facts are so I can’t make a comment at this time,” she said.
The Brainerd Dispatch and the West Central Tribune have not been able to reach Willert yet for comment.
Willert was one of two finalists for Willmar School District superintendent. After a final round of interviews, the School Board offered the position to him earlier this week. Board members were aware that Willert was also under consideration by the Brookings district and were awaiting his response.
