BROOTEN -- A former BBE School Board member has been reappointed to the board to fill a vacancy.
The appointment of Brian Knight was approved Monday by the board. He replaces Doug Tanner, who resigned from the School Board because he has moved out of the district. Knight will fill the position through the rest of the unexpired term, until June 30, 2007.
Board members also approved the district's preliminary tax levy for 2006.
It has been set at the maximum, $1,178,510.
The amount is a 10.28 percent increase over this year. A truth-in-taxation hearing will be held in December to give the public a chance to comment.
