GRANITE FALLS -- Verna Fern Ross, 83, of Granite Falls died Monday at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Assembly of God church in Granite Falls. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls.
She was born June 6, 1924, in Granite Falls to William and Eliza (Roberts) Cavender. She grew up and attended school in Granite Falls.

She married Rufus Ross on June 16, 1946. They lived in Granite Falls. She worked for many years in the laundry and housekeeping department of the Granite Falls Hospital and Manor.
She was a member of the board of regents for the Native American Bible College in Rapid City, S.D., and a member of the Upper Sioux Community Elders Group. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Granite Falls. She participated in Wisdom Steps.
She is survived by her children: Gary (and Irene) Cavender, Tommie (and Maureen) Ross, Dallas (and Nancy) Ross, Richard Ross, Elroy (and Jill) Ross, James (and Nikki) Ross, Marlys (and James) Fluto, Candy (and Chuck) Hamilton, all of Granite Falls and Joe (and Kristi) Ross, Diana Cavender, all of Apple Valley; one sister: Carolyn Schommer of Granite Falls; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son: John; several brothers and sisters: three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
