HENNING -- Vernon C. Thorson, 69, of Henning, formerly of rural Hawick, died Wednesday at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
The service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church in Eagle Bend.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born May 18, 1937, to Arnold D. and Anna Thorson of Hawick. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school in District 97 and graduated from Paynesville High School.
He married Jean Finch on Sept. 28, 1957. He married Denise Pihaly on Aug. 27, 1983.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Eagle Bend, the Minnesota State Pigeon Association and Old English Games Bantam Club. He served on the Henning School Board and was the past president of the Chinese Owl Club. He was a leader for the County Bumpkin 4-H, and volunteered at church and with the Parkers Prairie FFA. He showed pigeons, exotic birds, turkeys and other poultry.
He is survived by his wife; children: Vernon (and Jana) Thorson of Buffalo, Mike Thorson of Drake, N.D., Nancy Quast of Muncie, Ind., Bruce (and Ginger) Thorson of Drake, N.D., Jodi (and Scott) Nenn of Wyoming, Minn., and Danae and Sam Thorson of Henning; seven grandchildren; and four siblings: Ronald (and Doreen) Thorson of Hawick, Gerald (and Frances) Thorson of Paynesville, Elroy (and Mary) Thorson of Blaine and Barb (and Dave) Hoeft of Paynesville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
