REDWOOD FALLS -- Vernon Clair Zachow, 77, of Redwood Falls died Thursday at his home.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be at the Redwood Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, with a time of sharing at 7:30 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

He was born April 19, 1929, on a farm south of Danube to Albert and Pearl (Becker) Zachow. The family moved to the Hector area in 1939. He attended country school through the tenth grade. The family moved to a farm north of Redwood Falls in 1951.

He married Laura Davis on Sept. 19, 1952, at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Redwood Falls. They farmed in Renville County and moved to Redwood Falls. They took over Laura's father's farm, and he also drove rendering truck.

He opened Redwood Shoe service in 1973 and repaired and sold work shoes. He worked as a dispatcher for Gopher State Plumbing and Heating since 1989.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls and served as an usher and usher scheduler for many years.

He is survived by his wife; children: Charles (and Arvella) of Wabasso, Darlene (and Calvin) Kopischke of St. Peter, Bev (and Pat) Wacek of Olivia, Barb (and Ken) Cornelle of Redwood Falls, Sandy (and Bryan) Faulds of Redwood Falls, Steve Zachow of Chaska, Gail (and Brian) Bielen of Redwood Falls; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Glendon (and Ruth) Zachow of Redwood Falls and Dorothy (and Som) Bilotti of Maui, Hawaii.
