LITCHFIELD -- Vernon Walter Constant, 89, of Litchfield, died Wednesday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield. Burial will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Arrangements are by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home of Litchfield. Memorials are preferred to the Masonic Golden Fleece Lodge No. 89 and the Meeker County Historical Society.

He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Jamestown, N.D., to Walter and Emma (Lindberg) Constant. He attended school at District 25 at Grove City and attended the School of Agriculture in St. Paul.
He farmed southeast of Grove City and on the south edge of Litchfield. He was a Phillips 66 bulk oil distributor and a gas station owner for a brief time in Pasadena, Calif.
He was a member of the Meeker County Historical Society and the Masonic Golden Fleece Lodge No. 89 for more than 50 years and a former member of the Litchfield Fire Department. He was a longtime member of Arndahl Lutheran Church and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove City.
He is survived by his brothers: Robert (and Dora) Constant of La Habra, Calif., Herbert (and Mae) Constant of Danville, Calif.; and a sister: Laverne Schultz of Litchfield.
