WILLMAR -- Tyler Brower spun a three-hit shutout and also went 4-for-4 at the plate to drive in three runs, sparking Willmar I to a 10-0 win in five innings over Alexandria II in its District 5 playoff opener in VFW baseball.
Willmar will resume play on Saturday in Spicer.
Alexandria loaded the bases with no out in the first inning, but Brower escaped harm by getting a groundout, strikeout and flyout to end the inning.
The right-hander then retired 10 of the next 11 batters while Willmar's offense got going.
Adam Fagerstrom scored the first run after reaching on an error in the third and scoring on Brower's single. Willmar then produced six more runs in the fourth behind five hits and four wild pitches.

Andrew Bangen, Fagerstrom, Austin Adamson and Brower all had run-scoring singles in the fourth.
Two errors and Sam Spaulding's RBI single helped stretch Willmar's lead to 9-0 in the fifth before Brower ended the game by driving in Fagerstrom with a single.
