PAYNESVILLE -- Victor Bernard Schmitt, 80, of Paynesville died Tuesday at the aynesville Area Health Care System.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville.

He was born Dec. 23, 1925, in St. Francis to Martin and Mary (Lange) Schmitt. He grew up and attended school in St. Francis. He moved to the Twin Cities.

He married Ruth Ann Christenon in 1947 in St. Paul. They lived in the Twin Cities. He worked as a senior animal technician at the Rosemount Experiment Station for 40 years. He retired in 1988 and they moved to their home on Rice Lake. They moved to Paynesville two years ago.

He is survived by his wife; three nieces and three nephews.
