GRANITE FALLS -- Vivian Jean Ironheart, 58, of Granite Falls died Saturday at the Granite Falls Hospital.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Multi Purpose Building, Upper Sioux Community in Granite Falls. Burial will be in the Doncaster Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the Multi Purpose Building.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1949, in Granite Falls, to Herbert and Bessie Ironheart. She grew up in the Granite Falls area and graduated in 1967 from Granite Falls High School.

She married Byron Housman in June 1967, in Willmar. They later divorced. She attended Southwest State University. She worked in the Granite Falls school system. She moved to Minneapolis, where she worked as a teacher for special-needs children at Madison School for 13 years. She was also the first manager of the smoke and gift shop at Firefly Creek Casino for three years. She held various jobs within the community and was employed by Prairie's Edge at the time of her death.

She is survived by her son: Matthew Housman of Granite Falls; daughter: Lisa (and Dave) Stennes of Montevideo; a grandson; and sisters: Irene (and Donald) Howell, Lillian Ironheart-Smith and Marlys Ironheart, all of Granite Falls.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
