COTTONWOOD -- Lakeview handed MACCRAY its first loss in the Camden North Conference Thursday night with a hard-played 29-31, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 win over the Wolverines.
"Lakeview was so scrappy. They never gave up on a ball," said Wolverines' coach Terese Bourne.
The loss dropped MACCRAY into a first-place tie with Renville County West.
MACCRAY trailed early in every game. In the first game they were able to come from behind on the serving of Brandi Bodin. But the next three games the Lakers lead was waterproof.
Kari Caspers, a 6-1 senior hitter, had a huge game in the defeat. She generated 24 kills and six ace blocks. Ashley Beseman chipped in with 12 kills and Hillary Aeikens six. Danielle Goeman and Destiny VanDeReit combined for 33 digs.
