BENSON -- Montevideo survived an up-and-down match to beat Benson 22-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11 in West Central South volleyball action Tuesday.
The Thunder Hawks, who stayed tied with Yellow Medicine East for the conference lead, were again strong at the net with 12 ace blocks and spread the offensive action around, getting 10 kills each from Karie Blommel and Taylor Skoglund. Brooke Tastad and Beka Schwendemann followed with seven kills apiece.
Courtney Frank spurred the Braves' offense with 17 kills and she added two ace blocks. Kim Weibold helped defensively with 21 digs.
