BROOTEN -- Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, ranked No. 9 in the latest Class A volleyball poll, beat Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 25-21, 13-25, 25-14, 25-20 in non-conference action Monday.
Ashley Lensing paced the Jaguars (8-1) with 20 kills, followed by April Hansen with 16 and Tiffany Gruber's eight. Gruber also served four aces. Lensing and Hansen had 18 digs each and Holly Thompson recorded 41 set assists.
Kristi Steinhaus had 10 kills to lead the Fighting Saints. Mel Neal had 12 digs and Amber Johnson had 13 set assists.

The Wolverines (1-5) stretched the defending Class AAA state champions to the limit before Marshall pulled out the win 26-28, 25-10, 20-25, 25-10, 15-11 at Clara City.

MACCRAY jumped to a 6-1 lead in the first game on strong serving and Marshall receiving errors. While the Tigers' had the advantage in firepower, the Wolverines made it close with good defense.
Kari Caspers 14 kills led MACCRAY. Danielle Loomis supplied 29 set assists while Danielle Goeman made a team-leading 22 digs. Hilary Groothuis made two ace blocks and two ace serves.
Marshall's attacking leader was Danielle Gimmestad with 17 kills helping the Tigers improve to 8-1.
