GRANITE FALLS -- Yellow Medicine East regained the momentum in the fifth game to tip MACCRAY 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, 14-25, 16-14 in the season-opening volleyball match for both teams Thursday.
"We were scrappy and the key thing was taking the opportunities that they gave us," said YME coach Kristen Tjosaas.
The Sting also survived a flurry of aces from the MACCRAY serving line. The Wolverines recorded 20 aces, led by Brandi Bodin, who was 28-for-28 with eight aces.
At the net, YME got a lot of production from Livi Jeseritz, who was 26-of-29 with 15 kills, Macy McKay (14-of-17, nine kills) and Jamie Baker (14-of-18, eight kills).
Alicia Koenen led MACCRAY with 12 kills.
