NEW ULM -- With one more victory Central Minnesota Christian will have participated in the Class A State Tournament for a unprecedented ninth time in a 10-year period.
That's because the second-seeded Bluejays swept No. 5 Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 25-10, 25-22, 25-12 in the Section 2A-North final Thursday at Martin Luther College.
Only Sleepy Eye St. Mary's, the Section 2A-South champion, is in the way of CMCS (19-9) reaching the state tournament, which is Nov. 9-11 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The two will meet Saturday at 7 p.m. at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter in the Section 2A championship match.
CMCS senior all-around specialist Kresson Vreeman was again key in the Bluejays' win. Vreeman led or tied the team in ace serves (five), assists (15), kills (seven), ace blocks (four) and digs (13).
The Bluejays also got a spark from senior Moriah Gulbranson's three ace serves, junior Cassie Ulferts' seven kills and senior Kari Mulder's six kills, four ace blocks and 12 assists.

CMCS has swept all three of its playoff opponents this season. Sleepy Eye St. Mary's has also swept all three of its playoff opponents.
