WILLMAR - Business organizations will sponsor an event next week to tour ethnically-owned businesses located in downtown Willmar.
The “Walk The Corridor” event, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, will feature a progressive tour of ethnically owned businesses located in downtown Willmar and a social hour with food and refreshments to follow.
Tours will start at the Willmar Area Multicultural Business Center, 215 Fourth St. S.W., and will be of four businesses in the downtown corridor, followed by a social hour at Building 330, 330 Fourth St. S.W., where participants will try items offered by the businesses.
The four locations chosen for this event are La Fiesta, La Estrella Bakery, Somali Star and Mubarak Food & Grocery .
The event is sponsored by the Willmar Area Multicultural Business Center, the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission, and the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
Organizers say the tour is open to the public in addition to city and county elected officials, so they can learn more about downtown businesses.
The tour will be limited to 40 participants due to the need to manage four groups of 10 people in each group. Reservations are requested no later than Friday by calling the EDC office at 320-235-7370.
