GLENWOOD -- Wallace M. "Wally" Sherlin, 92, of Glenwood died Tuesday at Glenwood Retirement Village.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village. Burial will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the chapel.
He was born April 12, 1915, in Glenwood to Axel and Helen (Dahlstrom) Sherlin. He grew up in Glenwood where he graduated in 1933 from Glenwood High School. He worked for Nash Finch in Pope County and operated his own dray line service.

He married Helen Shermak on June 4, 1944. They lived in Glenwood. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He served in Europe during World War II and received a Purple Heart medal for being wounded in action. He returned to Glenwood where he worked for E.W. Wylie Inc. as a heavy equipment operator and later as a superintendent of various sugar beet plants until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his children: James (and Betty) Sherlin and Barb Goodrich, both of Glenwood; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000, a brother, three sisters and a stepsister.
