GLENWOOD -- Walter H. Flatau, 94, of Glenwood, formerly of Roseville, died Friday at the Glenwood Village Care Center.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima in Roseville. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Oct. 27, 1911 to Theodore and Emma (Quade) Flatau in Perham. He spent his childhood near Perham, farming with his brothers. At the age of 19, during the Great Depression, he rode the rails to Oregon where he worked in construction. After returning to Minnesota he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and spent three years in Hinckley clearing forests and building roads. He married Agnes Eicher on Oct. 28, 1939. They lived in St. Paul where he worked at the Ford Motor Company as a tool and die maker. He later joined Nobles Engineering and Manufacturing where he stayed until he retired at the age of 65. Agnes died in 2004. He was a member of St. Rose Lima Catholic Church for 55 years.

He is survived by three children: Dianne (and Milo) Fossen of Glenwood, Donald of Maplewood, Joanne (and Michael) Wagner of White Bear Lake; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
