WILLMAR -- Contributions are starting to come in for the 2011 Warm the Children campaign. Goal of this year's drive is $40,000.
Last year, the Warm the Children campaign took in $40,012, exceeding a goal of $39,000. The donations received helped to clothe 453 children throughout the area. Now in its 18th year, the Warm the Children campaign has helped some 6,424 children from an estimated 2,361 families over the past 17 years.
All donations, 100 percent, go to help the children. The program is administered through the West Central Tribune, in partnership with Main Street Willmar, with assistance from area social service agencies and schools making referrals.
A total of 156 donations have been received during the 2011 campaign. To date, donations total $10,094.
