WILLMAR - A 27-year-old Willmar man faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.
Julian Joe Vallejo was scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday on the charge. He reportedly failed to appear at the hearing and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to court files.
According to the criminal complaint on the charges, a Willmar Police Department detective received report of the incident March 5 from Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services. The young girl allegedly had spoken to a mandated reporter about the incident, which reportedly occurred at the girl’s home in Willmar.
During an interview with the Willmar detective, the girl identified areas in which Vallejo had allegedly inappropriately touched and penetrated her, according to the criminal complaint.
She told the detective that her babysitter was upstairs at the time of the incident.
A physical exam of the girl reportedly was consistent with a diagnosis of child sexual abuse.
The detective later interviewed Vallejo, who allegedly denied sexually assaulting the girl. He allegedly said “it was possible he may have accidentally touched her while they were playing,” the criminal complaint states.
