ST. PAUL - Western Minnesotans Friday morning face a freeze warning while those across the southern part of the state were warned about fire dangers Thursday.
Friday’s freeze warning lasts until 10 a.m. in the northern half of western Minnesota and 9 a.m. in the south, the National Weather Service reported. Temperatures could be in the mid to upper 20s in the north and upper 20s in the south. In places, the weather service warned, temperatures could be lower.
The warning indicates that sub-freezing temperatures are highly likely.
In the meantime, a red flag warning was issued for southwest and south-central Minnesota Thursday, with a fire weather advisory issued for the southeast. The weather service said the combination of dry weather and high winds prompted the action.
