MINNEAPOLIS — The severe thunderstorm that swept across parts of west-central Minnesota Monday night eventually spawned a small tornado on the ground in Carver and Hennepin counties.

The National Weather Service in Minneapolis had a crew conclude Tuesday that an EF-1 tornado touched down east of Watertown and moved into Hennepin County, according to their Twitter account.

An NWS Survey Team Tuesday confirmed the tornado's path near Minnestra area over a path length of about 3.5 miles.

The thunderstorm that crossed west-central Minnesota first generated a tornado warning for northern Meeker County.
