SUNBURG -- Wendell H. Aasen, 80, of Sunburg died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church in rural New London. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

He was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, to Axel and Ida Louise (Amb) Aasen. He attended District 23 and Kerkhoven High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1948, in Panama. He returned to the family farm and farmed with his brother.

He married Rosella Thorson on Dec. 14, 1968. They lived and farmed in Arctander Township and retired in 1986.

He was a member of East Norway Lake Lutheran Church and served on various committees at church. He was also a working volunteer for Norway Lake Historical Association and a member of the National Farmer's Organization and Farmer's Union.

He is survived by his wife; children: David (and Nancy) Aasen of Willmar, Allan (and Carrie) Aasen of Sartell, Teresa (and Don) Koshenina of Darwin, Anna (and Troy) Bishop of Big Lake; three grandchildren; and siblings: John (and Gladys) Aasen of Grand Forks, N.D., Myrtella Christenson of Benson, and Thelma (and Mark) Johnson of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one in infancy.
