WILLMAR, Minn. - Most roads in west central Minnesota are open this morning, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation travel information Web site. Roads in the Willmar vicinity are rated fair currently, with some icy conditions, drifting snow and reduced visibility.

Roads in the Redwood Falls area and farther south remain closed as of 6:30 a.m., according to the Web site. Those that are open are rated difficult with drifting snow and reduced visibility.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation began working to clear state highways at 4 a.m. this morning, according to a MnDOT news release. Crews were expecting to have most state highways in west central and southwestern Minnesota open by 5 a.m., but individual state highways will be opened as crews have cleared the roadway.

MnDOT says state highways are considered open when road closure lights/signs have been deactivated.

Roads are expected to be in fair to good driving condition with some areas of reduced visibility, along with some blowing and drifting.
