APPLETON -- William Albert Koeckeritz, 82, of Appleton died Tuesday at his home.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Burial will be at the Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
He was born March 24, 1924, in Bellingham to William and Mathilda (Buck) Koeckeritz. He graduated from Bellingham High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, his master's degree from Moorhead State University, and his doctorate degree from Utah State University.

He married Carol Currey on Dec. 29, 1951, in Appleton. He worked as a feed salesman and also in the Blue Grass Stripping business. He taught school in Hibbing and Appleton. He was the principal at Hermantown. He was a college professor at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion,S.D. He retired and was principal in Red Oak, Iowa, and also in Raymond. He retired from education in 1982 and returned to Appleton to farm and sell seed corn.
He was a member of Aid Association for Lutherans/Thrivent and served on the school board of Appleton Public Schools for several years.
He is survived by his children: Todd Koeckeritz of Brooklyn Park, Alan (and Darcy) Koeckeritz of Fergus Falls, Gwen Homer of Garretson, S.D.; five grandchildren; and three siblings: Walter (and Evelyn) Koeckeritz of New Ulm, Lillian Struck of Madison, and Clara (and Albert) Lotthammer of Ortonville.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002; three brothers and one sister.
