MADISON -- William Jacob Nelson, 101, of Madison, formerly of rural Dawson, died Tuesday at Madison Hospital in Madison.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Dawson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a closing prayer service at 7, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
He was born March 1, 1906, in Lloyd Township, rural Spencer, Iowa, to Nels and Christana (Johansen) Nelson. In 1926, he moved with his family to Minnesota.
He married Ella Haakenson on June 26, 1935, in Dawson. He farmed all of his life. Ella died in 1984. He later moved into Dawson. He entered the Madison Lutheran Home in Madison in 1997.

He is survived by two nieces: Violet Reason of Spencer, Iowa, and Bonnie (and Arbie) Lee of rural Dawson; and one nephew: Keith (Gail) Nelson of Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, including one in infancy, and two sisters.
