BENSON -- William Patrick "Bill" Walsh, 83, of Benson, died Sunday at Golden Living Care Center in Benson.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Murdock.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, with a parish prayer service at 4:30 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

He was born Oct. 8, 1924, in rural Murdock to Francis and Julia (Longman) Walsh. He attended country school and graduated from Murdock High School. He worked on the family farm and also at the Murdock Liquor Store.

He married Patricia Lucile Ness on Jan. 13, 1954, in Murdock. They moved to Benson in 1962, and he worked at the Benson Produce. Over the years he worked both full- and part-time jobs at the Produce and Liquor Store. He also worked as manager of the Benson Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1986, he went to work as the boiler engineer at the Swift County Courthouse in Benson and retired in 1996.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson and was an usher.

He is survived by his wife; children: Margaret (and Bill) Tomlinson of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Tim Walsh of Osseo, Rita (and Kevin) Frovarp of Fargo, N.D., Michelle (and Jim) Gorres of Hatton, N.D., Debbie (and Dave) Schwenk of Racine, Wis., and Steve Walsh of Benson; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings: Sister Julitta Walsh of Columbia, Mo., Evie Lever of Minneapolis and Tom Walsh of Chippewa Falls, Wis.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
