SPICER -- William R. "Bill" Henke, 73, of Spicer died Thursday at his home.
The services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Wabasso.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
He was born June 19, 1933, in Redwood County to Julius and Hulda (Doose) Henke. He attended school in Redwood Falls and graduated from high school in 1951. In high school he worked for J.C. Penney and enlisted in the U.S. National Guard. He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1955.

He married Patricia Schultz on Oct. 17, 1953, at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He graduated from Mankato State College in 1960. He worked for J.C. Penney in many communities, including Redwood Falls and Mankato, Sioux City and Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Elkhart, Ind. He helped open the store in Warsaw, Ind., and was manager in Peru and Warsaw, Indiana., for many years. They lived in Warsaw and summered in Spicer.
He is survived by his wife; children: Tonya (and Larry) Jakel of Cold Spring, Troy Henke of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters: Lucella Phillips of Willmar, Ardella Dickerson of Spicer, and Adrian (and Royce) Day of Raymond.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
