ALEXANDRIA -- The Willmar boys tennis team avenged an earlier loss to Alexandria with a 4-3 win in Central Lakes Conference action Monday.
Willmar (6-3, 7-3) fell to Alexandria 5-2 on April 22 at Willmar.
Four of the seven matches were decided in three sets and the last two gave Willmar the victory.
Matt Hallstrom won his 2-singles match over Reggie Ronning 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4, then a few minutes later Jim Neis won his 3-singles match over Luke Eberle 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to clinch the win.
Marco Vazquez was a straight-set winner at 1-singles over Connor Illies.

The Cardinals also earned a point from their 2-doubles team of Mitch Fader and Zach Burton in a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Marvin Wensaman and Cody Nelson.
Willmar hosts St. Cloud Tech today in another Central Lakes Conference match at 4:30 p.m. at the high school. The Cardinals topped St. Cloud Tech 6-1 on April 15 in St. Cloud.
