ST. CLOUD -- Willmar fighters won one and lost two matches at the St. Cloud Golden Gloves' USA Amateur Boxing night on Saturday.

Alex Solis (2-0) won a second-round TKO over Andrews Lund of St. Cloud at 185 pounds. Solis used powerful 1-2 combinations to drive Lund into the ropes, twice leading to an eight-count from the referee. Lund elected not to continue the fight after the second count.

Santo Reyes, 12, at 100 pounds, lost to Tye Nelson on a decision. Reyes couldn't mount an offense against the longer-armed White Bear Lake boxer. It was the 11th bout for Reyes.

Kelly Van Buren, 17, lost a split decision at 140 pounds to Ryan Dew of Fergus Falls, who overcame the Willmar boxer's hard punching with swift counter-punching.

Ex-Willmar Golden Glover Jesse Ruiz, now of St. Cloud, avenged an earlier loss to Leni Drewlow of Fergus Falls, winning the super-heavy match by decision.
