WILLMAR - The city of Willmar’s brush disposal and compost site will open to the public beginning April 5. The site is located 3 miles west of Willmar on state Highway 40, one mile south on County Road 116 (75th Street Southwest) and one-half mile west on brush site/wastewater treatment plant entrance.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The site will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day and Sept. 1 for Labor Day. No other days will be substituted for these holidays.
The brush site is open for city of Willmar residents only. Absolutely no lumber or garbage of any kind is accepted. No firewood may be removed.
The compost facility will accept leaves, grass clippings and garden clippings only. Residents should note that leaves, grass, and garden materials must be separated from brush and branches.
No boxes, plastic bags or plastic of any type may be left at the site.
Finished compost material is available for general public use. Mechanical loading is prohibited.
The Kandiyohi County Landfill also accepts brush and leaves at no charge. For information on hours, call 354-2707.
