MOORHEAD -- Willmar made the most of the first week of 2006. On Saturday, the Cardinals spilled Moorhead 75-70 to end the week 3-0.
While junior guard Kyle Townswick again led the scoring with 22 points, 6-foot-4 post Ryan Hagemeyer played a prime role in the victory.
"He was big especially at the end of the game driving to the basket," said coach Steve Grove. "Overall, this was his best game."
Hagemeyer finished with 13 points. Though only 6-2, Cory Hanson sometimes posted up because of a favorable matchup in height. Using his quickness, he was able to spin to the basket for most of his 13 points.
Willmar always led, including 38-32 at half, but couldn't shake the Spuds, who made 21-of-25 free throws.

The Cardinals shot 60 percent from the field. Tyler Horning and Townswick each hit a pair of treys in the first half. Senior post Matt Roisum supplied five rebounds and six assists.
Hagemeyer and Hanson also hit three-pointers as Willmar continued its long-range fireworks with an 8-for-13 day from beyond the arc.
Jordan Driscoll led the Spuds with 18 points while Tyler Burington finished with 17.
The Spuds made a 9-0 run late to get within three, but the Cardinals hung on for their seventh win. They will play at St. Cloud Apollo Tuesday and at home Friday against Edina.
