WILLMAR - As its first order of business of 2017 the Willmar City Council will swear in three new members and one returning councilman.

Councilman Shawn Mueske will be sworn in at Monday's reorganizational meeting for his first full term, while Kathy Schwantes, Julie Asmus and Fernando Alvarado will take their seats for the first time.

In addition to the oath of office administration, the council will also elect a mayor pro tempore, adopt rules of order, discuss committee appointments, consider council committee liaison assignments, establish council meeting dates and times and designate the official newspaper.

The issue of the mayoral veto regarding appointment to the Economic Development Commission Operations Board will also be considered.

The council retreat date and location will be announced.
