The Benson High School Marching Band is in rhythm headed north on Sixth Street Southwest early in the Willmar Fests Grande Day Parade Saturday morning. The mercury was heading toward 80 in bright sunshine, a contrast to a week early when the band marched in a downpour at their own Pioneerland Band Festival.

1/2: The Rice Hospital Foot Lake 4-mile run began with a run along the north shoulder of Highway 71/23 to skirt the bike trail flooded in parts by rain-swollen Foot Lake. Ian Thompson, 16, in 22:50 was overall winner; Tracy Sik, 44, repeated as women’s champion in 26:44. The 20th anniversary of the run listed 440 chipped participants plus many walkers.
