MINNEAPOLIS -- The 10-year-old Willmar girl who was crushed under a slab of ice Monday along Lake Minnewaska near Glenwood is battling a brain injury at Hennepin County Medical Center.

According to a Web page for Allison Jeffords, Jeffords suffered a brain injury while crawling through tunnels created by ice heaves along the shore of Lake Minnewaska. While crawling through one of the tunnels, a large ice chunk reportedly fell on Jeffords' head.

The Web page was created on the Caring Bridge organization's Web site, which offers free Web pages for families with sick or injured relatives. The site allows for a journal, pictures and a guestbook.

The family's last post around 12:30 p.m. today stated that Jeffords was in stable condition and had several tubes removed from her head.
