WILLMAR –– The Willmar Fire Department responded to an early-morning fire today at an unoccupied home in Southwest Willmar.

Crews were called to the two-story wood-frame home, located at 621 8th St. SW, at 1:55 a.m. and were on the scene for about an hour.

Firefighters from both Pennock and Kandiyohi were on back-up.

Damage to the structure was limited to the siding on the southeast corner of the house.

Willmar Fire chief Frank Hanson said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Hanson said the fire was reported by a neighbor.

According to Lee Sorenson, who lives across the street, the burned home has been unoccupied for at least a decade.
