Willmar man arrested after stabbing incident in Willmar

WILLMAR — A 21-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges around 4:50 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of 25th Street Southeast, according to a Willmar Police Department news release.

According to the news release, the Willmar man faces charges of second-degree assault, domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and obstruction of legal process.

Law enforcement initially responded to a report of stabbing and found both the suspect and a 30-year-old Willmar man at the address.

Police learned that the suspect had stabbed the other man and the two were known to each other.

The suspect initially tried to leave when police arrived but was taken into custody without incident a short time later.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening stab wounds and transported to Carris Health — Rice Memorial Hospital.

The suspect is currently held at the Kandiyohi County Jail.
