WILLMAR –– A Willmar man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Monday in Renville County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Carl P. Rowan, 24, died when the 2013 Ford pickup he was driving collided with a 2012 Peterbilt semi.
The crash was reported at 5:11 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 71 south of Olivia.
The accident report on the State Patrol’s public information website says Rowan’s vehicle was going south on Highway 71 when it crossed the center line and struck the northbound semi head-on.
A passenger in Rowan’s vehicle, Courtney E. Fisher, 21, of Tucson, Ariz., was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. The report says she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the semi, Preston M. Kuefler, 25, of Belgrade, was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the Patrol’s report.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Police Department, Olivia fire and ambulance crews and North Memorial Air assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
The road was dry at the time and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
