WILLMAR -- Derek Ryan Tate, 31, of Willmar, was sentenced Wednesday to 57 months in prison on a third-degree drug possession charge for drugs found by CEE-VI Drug Task Force agents during a Sept. 1 search of his home along Fifth Street Southeast in Willmar.
Tate, who was already in the custody of the Department of Corrections on another 28-month drug possession sentence, was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and given credit for 132 days already served in custody.
As part of a plea agreement in Kandiyohi County District Court, second- and fifth-degree drug charges were dismissed and the two drug charges against his girlfriend, Kelli Kae Johnson, 37, of Willmar, will be dismissed after one year if she has no other violations. Johnson was ordered Wednesday to pay a $200 fine and submit to chemical testing if law enforcement officers have probable cause for testing her.
There were three others charged in the case. Joann Linnea Tate, 55, of Willmar, was sentenced Dec. 19 to one year and one day in prison, which was stayed, five years of probation, 180 days in the county jail and a $50 fine on a fifth-degree drug possession charge.
She was also ordered to follow the recommendations of a chemical use assessment, not use or possess alcohol or drugs and to perform 200 hours of community work service.

The charges against two others, Daric Dennis Rosenau, 28, of Atwater, and Samuel Allen Krasean, 22, of Willmar, were dismissed for lack of probable cause.
According to the complaints, agents from the CEE-VI Drug Task Force and Willmar SWAT team served a search warrant on the home along the 700 block of Fifth Street Southeast around 2:40 p.m. Sept. 1. The officers found both Tates, Krasean and Rosenau in the home and arrested them. Johnson arrived later and was taken into custody.
The search revealed 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and Derek Tate's wallet on a table in the basement room where the men were located. When Tate was searched, officers found marijuana and a container with meth residue in his pocket. Also located in the room were a stun gun, $250 cash, a water bong, drug paraphernalia and surveillance cameras and monitors.
Officers noticed Tate making furtive efforts when they entered the basement and found two plastic bags, containing 3.8 grams of meth, at that location in the room. They also located 2.2 grams of meth, a credit card in Johnson's name and Oxycontin pills in a plastic case.
In Joann Tate's bedroom, officers found pills that contained a mix of Oxycontin and Tylenol, plus Oxycontin pills and a plastic bag with meth residue.
More surveillance cameras and monitors were located in a bedroom and the living room of the home. Officers also searched the garage and located numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
