WILLMAR -- A man was shot in the leg sometime before 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Willmar.
The Willmar Police Department was called Sunday evening to the Rice Memorial Hospital emergency room where a 21-year-old male was being treated.
According to a news release, the man reported that he had been walking in the area of 14th Avenue and Lakeland Drive Northeast when he was approached by two Hispanic males in a dark blue car. He reported that one of them yelled some type of gang threat and displayed a gun. The man said he grabbed for the gun and was shot in the left leg.
According to the release, the man was transported to Rice Hospital by a relative whom he called on his cell phone.
