WILLMAR - The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. today in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.
The board is scheduled to adopt several resolutions related to an upcoming bond referendum in May.
The school district will ask voters to approve a $50.8 million building project in a May 19 special election. The project includes a new elementary school, maintenance projects throughout the district, adding modern science classrooms at the middle school and gym space at the high school. Another part of the project is remodeling in all of the school buildings to update the learning environment.
Also on the agenda is a resolution directing the administration to recommend budget cuts. The district is planning to cut about $1 million from its budget this spring.
Willmar Senior High Principal Paul Schmitz will present a progress report on the school’s continuous school improvement plan.
The board listens to public comments about agenda items at the beginning of the meeting. Those commenting on issues not on the agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.
The board meeting will be recorded and shown on channel 19 on En-Tel and 188 on Charter at 9 p.m. today; at noon and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; and at 11:45 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Friday.
