WILLMAR -- The Willmar boys tennis team started the season with four straight wins and Tuesday completed another four-win stretch by beating St. Cloud Tech 6-1 in Central Lakes Conference action.
The Cardinals (7-3, 8-3) lost three straight in between the two streaks.
Willmar swept the singles matches, including straight-set wins by Marco Vazquez at 1-singles, Matt Hallstrom at 2-singles and Jim Neis at 3-singles. Matt Horning at 4-singles won in three sets.
The Cardinals also won at 2-doubles with Mitch Fader and Zach Burton and 3-doubles with Chris Van Dorn and Ryan Sheehan.
The Cardinals, who host New London-Spicer Thursday in a non-conference make-up, will compete in the Central Lakes Conference tournament Saturday in St. Cloud, then wrap up the regular season by hosting conference-leading Brainerd on Monday.
