WILLMAR -- Marco Vazquez came up with the winning point for Willmar Thursday as the sophomore won a three-setter at 2-singles to help the Cardinals snap a four-match losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Fergus Falls in the Central Lakes Conference.
Willmar (2-3, 6-4) swept all four singles matches with two going the distance.
Making his varsity debut, freshman Jim Neis won 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) at 4-singles for the Cardinals.
"We finally pulled out some close three-setters," said Willmar coach Loren Holter. "We've been competitive the last couple of matches, but we hadn't pulled any (three-set matches) off.
Cass Magnuson won 6-2, 6-3 at 1-singles and Matt Hallstrom won 6-1, 6-4 at 3-singles for Willmar's other two points.

Fergus Falls (1-4, 1-4) swept the doubles, needing all three sets to prevail at No. 3.
Willmar hosts a non-conference triangular on Saturday.
